The Outrun + Q&A (2024)
Review
Saoirse Ronan is outstanding in this painful, involving addiction-recovery drama, directed by Nora Fingscheidt and adapted by Fingscheidt and Amy Liptrot from Liptrot’s own 2017 memoir of the same title and co-produced by Ronan with her husband Jack Lowden.

About the film
Just released into cinemas, and this special screening features a recorded Q&A with star / producer Saoirse Ronan and co-writer-director Nora Fingscheidt, moderated by Reclaim the Frame’s Melanie Iredale.’ The film is based on the best-selling memoir by Amy Liptrot. After a decade away in London, 29-year-old Rona ( Saoirse Ronan ) returns home to the Orkney Islands. Sober but lonely, she tries to suppress her memory of the events which set her on this journey of recovery. Slowly the mystical land enters her inner world and – one day at a time – Rona finds hope and strength in herself among the heavy gales and the bracingly cold sea.
